Boeing Welcome Center

We had the privilige of working with General Contractor OL Thompson providing the paving material in front of the new Boeing delivery center at the North Charleston campus. In a recent article the Post and Courier writes, "Boeing's top local executive, Marco Cavazzoni, said the three-story center will draw foreign dignitaries, engineers and airline executives to the Lowcountry -- probably for their first ever visit -- giving South Carolina worldwide exposure." The landscape architecture firm CJMW based in Winston Salem, NC chose Select Blue Natural Cleft bluestone on the paving surfaces in front of the building.
The architects wanted to use elements in their design that were reminiscent of lowcountry traditions such as woven sweetgrass. The sidewalks in downtown Charleston are similar to the material used at the new Boeing facility. We are excited to have our material exhibited in front of such an imporant Boeing landmark. The bluestone was installed by contractor General Precast.

  1. Matt - thanks for the callout for CJMW Architecture; we're excited to be working on the Boeing projects, too. The bluestone is beautiful! One clarification - CJMW Architecture is an architecture, engineering and interior design firm and we are the lead design team firm for the Boeing projects. The decision on the bluestone was a collaborative one with CJMW Architecture, Genesis Consulting civil engineers and Grimball Coterill landscape architects.
